Helvetic Airways orders up to eight Embraer E195‑E2 jets

Helvetic Airways has placed a firm order for three E195‑E2 aircraft with rights for five more, expanding its Embraer regional jet fleet.

Swiss regional carrier Helvetic Airways has committed to a new order with Embraer for three E195‑E2 aircraft, with purchase rights for five additional jets, potentially expanding its fleet by up to eight aircraft. The announcement was made at the 2025 Dubai Airshow as part of the airline’s ongoing fleet modernisation strategy.

“We are proud to deepen our partnership with Embraer through this further order for the E2,” said Tobias Pogorevc, CEO of Helvetic Airways. “The E195‑E2 is the ideal aircraft for our network, offering exceptional fuel efficiency, low noise emissions, and a high‑quality passenger experience. This order supports our modern fleet strategy and sustainability goals while maintaining operational flexibility across Europe. It will also enhance our ability to serve various European customers through our ACMI operations.”

Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, added that “Helvetic Airways continues to demonstrate the versatility and value of the E2 family in European operations. Their decision to expand the E195‑E2 fleet is a strong endorsement of the aircraft’s performance, economics, and environmental credentials. We’re proud to support Helvetic’s growth and their role in delivering reliable, efficient service in their main area of wet‑lease operations.”

The first of the newly ordered E195‑E2 aircraft is expected to be delivered at the end of 2026, with the remaining jets arriving into spring 2027. Each aircraft will feature a single‑class cabin with 134 modern Recaro seats, combining passenger comfort with operational efficiency — essential for Helvetic’s regional and wet‑lease operations across Europe.

Once all purchase rights are exercised, Helvetic’s total E2 fleet could grow from 12 aircraft today to up to 20 in the coming years, further strengthening its position as a major European operator of Embraer’s next‑generation E‑Jet family. The order also allows the airline to continue replacing older E190 jets with more efficient E2 models, boosting capacity on key regional routes and enhancing overall fleet sustainability.
