Industry Aviation Capital Group orders 35 737 MAX jets
The Aviation Capital Group has signed a purchase agreement with Boeing for 35 737 MAX aircraft.
Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has signed a firm purchase agreement with leasing company Aviation Capital Group (ACG) for a total of 35 new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. With the new aircraft, ACG will extend its aircraft portfolio.
The latest order consists of 16 737-8 aircraft and 19 of the larger 737-10 variant. With earlier purchases, ACG now has a total of 82 new Boeing aircraft in the order books with the manufacturer.
"This firm order for additional 737 MAX aircraft enhances the strategic value of ACG's order book, supports a key pillar of our growth strategy and reinforces our commitment to invest in modern and fuel-efficient aircraft technology," said Thomas Baker, Chief Executive Officer and President at ACG. "We look forward to supporting our airline customers throughout the world with these highly versatile and fuel-efficient aircraft."
Brad McMullen, Boeing senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing, added: "Today's repeat order demonstrates market demand for the 737 MAX family of airplanes as ACG's customers seek to operate flexible, fuel-efficient fleets […] ACG has been a longstanding, valued partner on the 737 MAX program, and we look forward to working together to deliver the latest airplane technology to its airline customers."
Aviation Capital Group is one of the bigger full-service aircraft asset management companies with over 480 owned, managed or committed aircraft. It has leased aircraft to around 90 customers in approximately 45 countries around the globe.
The 737 MAX family is Boeing’s newest iteration of the popular 737 NextGen family. With new aerodynamical advantages and new engines, the aircraft saves up to eight million pounds of CO2 emissions annually and is much quieter than the predecessor aircraft. Due to two fatal crashes and quality control issues, the 737 MAX program is strongly criticised in the industry.
