Taiwan’s China Airlines has confirmed a significant fleet expansion with a firm order for 14 Boeing 777X aircraft, comprising 10 777-9 passenger jets and four 777-8 freighters. This move marks the airline’s commitment to modernising its long-haul operations and cargo capabilities.
The 777-9, known for its extended range and fuel efficiency, will serve China Airlines’ long-haul routes to North America and Europe. The 777-8F freighters are expected to enhance the airline’s cargo services, offering improved payload capacity and operational efficiency.
In addition to the firm order, China Airlines has secured options for five more 777-9s and four additional 777-8 freighters, indicating potential future expansion.
This order aligns with China Airlines’ broader fleet renewal strategy, which includes previous announcements to acquire 10 Airbus A350-1000 passenger aircraft. Deliveries for the new aircraft are scheduled to begin in 2029, supporting the airline’s goal to enhance its global network and operational performance.
